Ram Navami, the birth of Lord Ram is an auspicious occasion and celebrated in full glory all across the country. This festival takes place on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri and falls in the month of April and March as per the Gregorian calendar. Lord Ram is the 7th avatar of Lord Vishnu who took birth in the Ayodhya kingdom to parents King Dasrath and Queen Koushalya. Madhyana moment marks the exact time of Lord Ram’s birth and during this time devotees arrange Bhanjans, chant mantras, and pray to him with premium quality puja samagris.  Thus, Ram Navami is a huge affair in the Indian subcontinent, especially in Ayodhya.

This year this auspicious festival is going to take place on 21st of April and it will be a sight to watch as there will be huge processions in his honor in the streets. Devotees from different parts of the country will come to Ayodhya to be a part of this massive gathering. Also, those who come from far, take a holy dip in the Saryu river before visiting the Ram temple.

How to Conduct Ram Navami Puja?

At Temples And Religious Places:

On Ram Navami traditionally, devotees do a 24 hour fast or an “eight prahar'' fast. Each prahar lasts for 3 hours, and there are 3 steps to follow it. These include:

  • Every day throughout one's life
  • On a particular day linked to an event
  • Any day as desired by the devotees

Devotees arrange for puja thali items from the best puja saman store online in India. Pandijits conduct hawans and all other necessary puja vidhi. However, one important fact that most Indians do not know is, though this festival has the name of Lord Ram it typically includes reverence for Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman. Some Vaishnava communities observe all nine days of Chaitra Navaratri remembering Rama, and reading the Ramayana.

At Home:

When you are arranging for Ram Navami puja at home, items necessary for the puja are roli, aipun, rice, water, flowers, a bell, and a conch. After you arrange all these samagris correctly, the next step is to apply tika. Usually, the youngest family member puts it on every member of the family. Everyone participates in the puja by first sprinkling the water, roli, and aipun on the Gods. After this, devotees shower a handful of rice on the deities of Lord Ram. Everyone stands up for Aarti and at the end, Pandit Ji sprinkles Ganga Jal or holy water.
