Four Powerful Mantras for Routine Prayers to Seek Divine Grace

Sanskrit, the most ancient of all languages, is said to be the Dev Vani or the voice of the God. People are not even aware when was this language found. The scriptures say that it was introduced by Brahma, the creator, to the dwellers of the celestial abode and since then it’s the divine language that is used by common people not much in spoken form but in conversation with the Supreme. The Puja Mantras and Kawach that are chanted in this language are said to have a profound affect on human lives and hence the immense religious significance is attached to them. The correct pronunciation is, however very crucial for evoking the cosmic powers and the ensuing merits in lives of living beings.


Mentioned below are the most common and efficacious chants that are usually adapted and should be adapted by the people in their routine lives for various reasons and with different intentions:

1)    Karagre Vasate Lakshmih Karmadhye Saraswati.
Karmoole Sthita Gauri, Prabhate Kardarshanam`.

This mantra is recited in the morning when you wake up slowly opening the eyes in the end while looking at the palm. The words refer to looking at various positions in the palm, which signify the positions of Lakshmi (Tip), Saraswati (Base) and Gauri (Bottom). It is meant for contemplation and for gaining wealth along with right knowledge and strength to survive.  There are variations of this Mantra, with Brahma or Govinda replacing Gauri.

2)    Om`Sah Naavavatu. Sah Nau Bhunaktu.
Sah Viiryan Karavaavahai
Tejasi`Vanaavadheetamastu Maa Vidvisshaavahai.
Om` Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih.

This is called by the name Shanti Mantra, meant to maintain peace in the lives of the worshipper and his teacher or Guru and protect them from unwanted forces. It is chanted at the start or end of a ritual is for the spread and prevalence of right form of knowledge.

3)    Vakratunndd Mahakay Suryakottisamaprabhaa.
Nirvighnam Kuru Me Dev Sarvakaaryesshu Sarvadaa.

The prayer to the eliminator of hindrances is done at the beginning of any work. It pleads to deity Ganesha, of large body, curved trunk and light of wisdom more than million suns, to remove any obstacles that come in the way of any venture. The words can be recited to the common variety or Crystal Kamal Ganesh idols.

4)    Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah,
Tat Savitur Varenyam;
Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi,
Dhiyo Yo Naha Prachodayat.


The Mantra is recited at any fixed time during the day in reverence of Gayatri, the five-faced goddess of five senses. The words denote the homage paid to the Creator to remove the grief, expiate the sins, ignorance, and enlighten the minds. The extremely powerful prayer is the illuminator or divine energy.
