In the culture of Hinduism, people celebrate all festivities with great devotion and adoration. During any occasion, people decorate their homes and light up their surroundings with beautiful diyas and puja kits while also offering delicacies to the lord. The Hindu dharma also provides numerous pathways for people to worship the spirit of the divine. Karmakānḍa or ritualistic worship is one of them – a subset to the path of devotion, it is often called. In this, every aspect has a specialised ritualistic significance, which is why arranging the pooja thali correctly is considered very significant.

Based on Cosmic Elements:-

Before one starts commencing the puja, it is required that one arranges all the puja thali items in the proper manner so that the worshipper is benefitted spiritually. The science of spirituality tells them arranging a thali based on the five cosmic elements. This include -
  • Pruthvi or the Absolute Earth
  • Ākāsh or the Absolute Ether
  • Āpa or the Absolute Water
  • Tēj of the Absolute Fire
  • Vāyu of the Absolute Wind
This arrangement is given specific significance because it is meant to provide a balance as well as coordinate all the basic workings of this Universe. By decorating the thali with proper pooja items and things, the worshipper who is the embodied soul can reap maximum benefits from the Lord. The saguṇ or the manifest and the ‘nirgun’ or the ‘unmanifest’ are frequencies which the Deity emits after continual praying along with online puja samagri.

Arranging the Components On the Thali:-

The explanation behind the thali arrangement follows a two-dimensional context, according to the Deity’s position who is being ritualistically worshipped with Indian Puja items almost everyday. The forefront is that part of the thali which faces the idol directly. The lower end of the platter is placed close to the worshipper.

The Step By Step Arrangement Is Done In the Following Manner:-

Powders –

When it comes to putting up a puja thali after buying from the puja store online, like vermillion (kumkum) or turmeric (Haldi) which should be placed on the right side of the worshipper. One also keeps gulal (magenta coloured powder), bukka (black coloured powder) and sindoor (saffron coloured powder) on the left side of the thali. This should all be done after buying puja decoration items online at affordable prices.

Fragrances –

his consist of items like the bottle of perfume, flowers and sandalwood paste leaves and a type of tender glass called durva. All these should be placed in the front portion of the platter so that it stays close to the idol which has to be prayed with devotion. The frequencies of the deity are always activated by the fragrance which is kept on the thali.

Monetary Offering –

Sometimes the nuts and leaves of the betel plant along with monetary offerings are also placed in the puja thali bought along with puja decoration items online. These components are placed on the lower end of the thali which is, in turn, placed close tot he worshipper and the worshipped. These are considered essential mediums through which the subtle and effective frequencies are conveyed to the deity or the idol.

Rice Grains -

This is placed right in the centre of the thali. This is where the five frequencies of the superior Lord or God come and amalgamate to form a strong power. Deities of Shiva, Parvati, Durga, Shrīkrushṇa, Shrīrām, and Ganpati are attracted to this.

The Processes One Should Follow to Set Up A Mandir At Home?

To set up a new shrine one has to follow some guidelines along with pooja samagri online. Read this for more information.

Every household has a separate and well-placed mandir- a holy and pious abode of their religious God. Also known as the mandir, it is the place where one conducts proper worship of the deities. A murti is an embodiment of a Hindu God of any form, like a statue which is prayed to daily, after following some rituals. Hence, before installing a beautiful mandir at home with pooja items, one needs to follow some of these guidelines.

Where does a mandir go in the home?

One should use an entire room before building the shrine. However, one can also choose a quiet corner of the house to locate the mandir with other pooja samagri online. The traditional Hindu architecture known as the Vastu Shastra says that one should always choose the northeastern most corner of the room as the altar room. The shrine should also be placed in the same corner since it is meant to assist in the proper flow of the energy or the chakra.

Which Gods should be placed at the altar?

Some of the main devas which take position at every home shrine/mandir are never limited to some particular murtis. One can keep the idols of the following – Lord Ganesha, Parvati, Shiva, Krishna or Vishnu. Sometimes the devotee wishes to have a single deity placed in the mandir along with pooja decoration items online, instead of having an entire pantheon. But regardless of how many idols one places at the shrine, there is the existence of one Ishta Deva or a personal favourite. This deity will always occupy the central position/seat in the shrine. This seat has to be decorated and adorned at all times with Indian pooja items, thus kept most elaborately and gloriously.

What material should the mandir be made from?

Many people prefer to buy ready-made shrines available at the online divine stores or in the market. Those people who cannot afford to buy shrines can use a simple table and cover it up with a saffron-coloured cloth. One can then place the idols and start worshipping them after buying premium puja kits online. The materials required will be aromatic incense stick, an oil lamp or a diya, a bell and a small box to collect all the dakshina.

Some other rules which should be followed include -

  • Irrespective of whether one places religious idols or photo frames of deities in the pooja room, one should be cautious to place them in the east or the west direction, and not in the north or south. While offering prayers to the Almighty, one should also face the same direction. The idols of the Gods should not be more than three inches. One should not hang the frame on the north or the south wall.
  • One should not keep damaged idols or religious frames at home. To avoid this, one can keep wooden or marble frames since they do not get damaged easily.
  • The room where the shrine is ket should be painted with a light colour like white, light blue or cream.
  • If one is installing the shrine with an attached door, it should be wooden with no shutters. The utensils inside the mandir should be made of silver, gold or copper since they are considered pure. The ghanta and the lamp should be made from brass, the kalash should be made of copper.
